The Executive Centre Office Inauguration & Teambuilding

With offices located all over the world from Australia to China, we were thrilled when The Executive Centre contacted us to launch their international business centre right here in the heart of Dubai. Opening offices in the aptly named Executive Centre located at the World Trade Centre, GEM was asked to put on a unique and noteworthy office inauguration where TEC employees from around the world and local executives were invited to celebrate the newly launched space. In addition, we were requested to outline a calendar of fun and uniquely Dubai activities for a teambuilding weekend for visiting TEC employees. Just our thing, GEM created an engaging “high tea” office inauguration and a selection of high value and exclusive staff teambuilding events that included various fun activities around Dubai and nighttime excursions across the Friday and Saturday evenings.

The office inauguration got off to a classy start with a rustic-themed high tea uniquely produced by GEM, with home-style comforts – think finger sandwiches, canapes, fresh cream scones, cheese and tomato quiches, salmon bagels, and macarons for our sweet-toothed guests. Sultry, jazz tunes from our live saxophone player teased guests with its wistful notes. Crockery and in-house fabrications fit TEC brand colours and our unique floral arrangements finished off the rustic ensemble. Hostesses greeted arriving guests, wearing outfits to match the brand look and feel.

Dubai’s leading illusionist, renowned for his iPad magic and mind-bending tricks, enthralled and delighted guests throughout the evening. Providing a personal touch, he incorporated the TEC company logo into his magic tricks – leaving guests pondering the sheer mental genius of his art. The hit of the evening no doubt, and a great social media opportunity, too.

Guests were then whisked off to At.mosphere, the highest restaurant in the world, located on the 122nd floor of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, for drinks and canapes. They enjoyed unparalleled views of Downtown Dubai in a private area that was allocated to them for the evening.

Day 2’s teambuilding activity saw a very enthusiastic team hop aboard a luxury coach to Jumble, an urban indoor maze where they found themselves navigating a series of physical and mental challenges. It was the ultimate indoor activity and an excellent way to escape the Dubai summer heat. Lunch in a private back room of the French Bakery next door was a great way to satiate after all that exertion! Guests were then taken back to their hotel to prepare for the evening’s activities.

La Perle is a must-see for anyone visiting Dubai. It’s a Cirque du Soleil-style ‘extravaganza’ with acrobats, divers (the stage features a diving pool!), motorbikes and more. Masterminded by acclaimed theatre director Franco Dragone, La Perle’s mysterious storyline, incredibly talented performers and one-of-a-kind stage concept has made major waves as the city’s very first in-residence theater show. We were thrilled that our guests got to see this one-of-a-kind performance and the upstairs Zoco provided the perfect setting for Mexican fare and beverages to end off the evening.

Day 3 was a little more informal and laid-back as guests piled into limos to be taken to the Souq Madinat Jumeirah for a traditional Dubai shopping experience with a modern flair. They were also treated to authentic Arabic fare at the nearby Khaymat Al Bahar Restaurant, where they feasted on Lebanese delights. A truly unforgettable experience for our first-time Dubai visitors, the evening (and activity-packed weekend) was rounded off by a boat party, where guests danced the night away to exquisite views of the Dubai Marina.

We give ourselves a pat on the back for this one – as we must admit that this was just as much fun for us as it was for our guests! We can’t wait to do it again – watch this space.
