GEM was commissioned by DAI, who are the elected corporate body of the United States of America Government (U.S. Agency of International Development), to manage their Middle East-focused event to encourage investment into the Afghanistan mining industry.
Under the patronage of H.E Nargis Nahan, Minister of Mines and Petroleum of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan; leaders, CEOs, CFOs, CIOs and politicians from all over the region were invited to the Conrad Dubai hotel to experience a busy agenda over 3 days – interacting in keynote financial and geological briefings. Guests also participated in Q&A sessions with panellists and hosts to ensure all their queries were answered, which stood to encourage the next steps in business agreements.
Speakers and sessions advisors consisted of, to name a few; Kristi Ragan, USAID INVEST Director, Said H. Mirzad, Engineer Geologist, US Geological Survey (USGS), Waliullah Zadram, Deputy Minister MOMP Policy & Programs and Anna Mallett, Attorney-Adviser International, Commercial Law Development Programs, U.S. Department of Commerce.
The 3-day conference consisted of a main ballroom with 10m x 5m LED screen stage backdrop that seated up to 200 people, as well as 5 breakout rooms for intimate sessions, networking, one-on-one meetings with the ministers and a private DAI office.
At the end of the busy 3 days, guests were treated to a cocktail reception luncheon on the 6th floor pool garden terrace of the Conrad Dubai – where attendees could unwind with lounge music and beverages; chat and network with their peers under the sunny backdrop of the Dubai city skyline.
